We are very excited to announce that the KISS Main Stage at SW4 will be co-hosted by the mighty Ministry of Sound!
The world famous south London club throw their considerable muscle behind the event as SW4 takes over clubland for the day. There simply isn’t a bigger club brand on the planet and over the past few years Ministry of Sound has cemented its reputation as London’s leading club with the acquisition of The Gallery to its weekly Friday nights backing up some impressive Saturday night residencies. So… with Sasha & John Digweed playing their exclusive back to back set to close the festival in true SW4 style, this year’s headliners will be supported by some major DJ talent in the shape of David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Sander Kleinenberg, Mark Knight and Scarlett Etienne, with more names on the way!
Starting with main support, David Guetta… the French superstar has the lot. He’s the highest placed ‘house’ DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll – proudly sitting at No.5, he’s had 3 Top 20 singles in the UK charts with ‘Just a Little More Love’, ‘Love Don’t Let Me Go’ and ‘Love is Gone’, he hosted his very own DJ concert in the Stade de France for 40,000 people and with ‘F**k Me I’m Famous’, he hosts one of the coolest parties in Ibiza. Phew! This year South West Four’s finally got our man and we know he’s going to blow you away!
Next up is Mr Pryda Records himself, Eric Prydz. The Swedish house mafioso is one of the world’s most complete DJ/Producers and returns by popular demand after an amazing debut back in 2007. With its lush piano riff, ‘Pjanoo’ was not only the track at South West Four last summer, but it was arguably the biggest dance record of 2008.
Sander Kleinenberg is another returning hero having played twice before. His ‘This Is’ residency at Ministry of Sound continues to pack them in, and his audio/visual sets have been pushing the boundaries for many years now.
Completing the Main Stage bill (for now!) are two hot new names for SW4 in 2009 – Mark Knight and Scarlett Etienne. Mark runs one of the globe’s favourite labels in Toolroom Records and his night at MOS is one of the busiest nights in the clubs history, whilst Scarlett is a DJ on the rise and has a big future ahead of her.
The End presents ‘Shake It’ Stage
DUBFIRE
TIMO MAAS
LAYO & BUSHWACKA!
STEVE LAWLER
plus very special guests TBA
New to South West Four this year is The End Presents ‘Shake It’ Stage. The End was a symbol of London’s clubland, at the very fore-front of every major movement and purveyor of all things electronic and groovy. Sadly the world said goodbye to The End in January 2009 when the club shut, but the spirit and passion lives on with its owner Layo Paskin, who launched his new warehouse concept ‘Shake It’ in March. Layo & Bushwacka! will of course be overseeing the music in their stage, following their fantastic debut set last year.
Joining Layo & Bushwacka! on the decks will be an all-star cast featuring some former resident DJs at The End, and all-round superstars! Step forward Dubfire, Timo Maas and Steve Lawler. Dubfire is the Deep Dish man gone solo, who’s causing a real ruckus with his more techno-tuned sets and ‘Sci-Tec’, his jaw-dropping new label. ‘Roadkill’ was one of the stand out tracks of 2008, and we’re delighted he’ll be making his SW4 debut alongside such great company. Another SW4 debutant will be Timo Maas, the Mutant Clan maestro. Timo held his 99% parties at The End for many years and describes his sound as “dark, trippy & funky electronic music”. His remix of Azzido Da Bass’ ‘Dooms Night’ remains a modern day classic, with newer joints appearing on Cocoon and Connaissaur. Steve Lawler on the other hand is a bit of a SW4 veteran and makes his 4th appearance on the day. His Harlem Nights party was something of an institution at The End, and he can now be found at Ministry of Sound hosting his new night. Look out for more line-up announcements in The End Presents ‘Shake It’ Stage soon!
