The Billboard Music Awards nominees were announced today. Rihanna leads this pack with nominations across 18 categories, including Top Hot 100 Artist, Female Artist, R&B Artist and Dance/Electronic Artist.

Eminem’s a close second with 16 nominations. He’s up for Top Artist, Male Artist and Rap Artist. Lady Gaga is up for 12 awards, with three of her albums, ‘The Fame’, ‘The Fame Monster’ and ‘The Remix’ all competing for Top Dance/Electronic Album.

Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars are up for 11 gongs, and are going head to head to claim New Artist and Male Artist.

Other New Artist contenders are Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Taio Cruz, with KISS-favourite track ‘Dynamite’ up for five awards including Top Hot 100 Song.

The awards will take place in May in Las Vegas, with Black Eyed Peas performing at the ceremony.
