After a three year hiatus, Gym Class Heroes are back with a sweet love song… or is it a dig at Katy Perry?

If it seems like forever since you heard any new stuff from Gym Class Heroes, it’s because the alternative rap quartet took a three year hiatus so lead singer Travie McCoy could focus on his solo career. Last year he released Lazarus, which contained the single ‘Billionaire’ featuring Bruno Mars.

Now he’s done ‘exploring his creative channels’, GCH are back. Their fourth album, The Papercut Chronicles II, will come out later this year, and Stereo Hearts is the first single to be taken from it.

Featuring Maroon 5′s frontman Adam Levine, it’s a cleverly worded love song that uses record players and boomboxes as analogies for a boy’s heart – awww.

It was produced by Benny Blanco, an American super producer who’s just as likely to be working with Britney Spears or Ke$ha as he is with underground rappers like Spank Rock.

Did You Know…
Travie McCoy dated Katy Perry in the days before she became Mrs. Russell Brand. It wasn’t a peachy union, with Travie battling an addiction to sleeping pills, and needing to take a trip or two to rehab during their two or so years together. Rumour says she wrote Circle The Drain, a track about dating a drug addict on her 2010 Teenage Dream album, about their relationship.

Perhaps Stereo Hearts, with the verse ‘Furthermore, I apologize for any skipping tracks / This the last girl that play me left a couple cracks / I used to used to used to used to, now I’m over that /Cause holding grudges over love is ancient artifacts’ is him having a dig back.

Ouch!
