This week’s Song Of The Week is Katy Perry’s ode to a lost love… should Russell be worried?

Katy Perry seems to get quite a kick out of showing her fans what the future might look like. Who can forget the video for E.T, when Kanye West floated through space shouting his head off about ‘alien sex’, and Katy was a shape-shifting space nymph taking a critical – yet wide eyed – look at our dead planet. She’s teamed up with Canadian video director Floria Sigismondi again for The One That Got Away, and like their previous outing, it’s a futuristic vision that could bring a tear to your eye.

The video sees Katy portraying her future self with amazing prosthetic make up that ages her by about 50 years. Of course, Katy is no stranger to latex having worn rubber dresses on stage and off, but seeing her transformed in to an OAP is really shocking. She’s a sad old woman too, as her boyfriend and her had a row when they were young and hot and he drove off a cliff in a sweet car.

None of Katy’s exes have died (to the best of our knowledge), but pre-Russell Brand she was dating Gym Class Heroes’ Travie McCoy. He had issues with drug dependency so maybe this song is a metaphor for how he threw his life away – or maybe Katy’s not that deep and just wanted to play dress up (again).
