UK’s Ed Sheeran, Adele and Estelle have also been nominated for awards.
Jay-Z, Kanye West and Frank Ocean are among the most nominated artists for the 2013 GRAMMY Awards® with six each.
The Watch The Throne collabs in addition to Yeezy’s G.O.O.D. Music single ‘Mercy’ and Hov’s features on I Do and Talk That Talk meant the Hip Hop stars were mentioned in categories such as Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Performance and Best Shortform Music Video. Frank Ocean has been shortlisted in the prestigious Album of The Year and Record of The Year categories, among others.
UK singers Ed Sheeran, Adele and Estelle have also received GRAMMY nods, with Sheeran’s The A Team being nominated for Song of The Year!
Last night, Ed tweeted his excitement at being shortlisted, saying:
“I’ve been nominated for a Grammy. I’m so happy. A team. A song I wrote with no home, no money, anything, nominated or best record at the Grammys. A dream come true. Ecstatic xxx. I can’t describe how happy I am.”
So whilst many in the music industry were celebrating being nominated, Justin Bieber‘s manager Scooter Braun was less than happy.
Taking to twitter to express his disgust that Bieber hadn’t received any nominations, he said:
“…Grammy board u blew it on this one…the hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. the kid delivered. Huge succesful album, sold out tour, and won people over…this time he deserved to be recognized and I dont really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision i dont agree with.”
The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 10, 2013, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
