“Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons.” he says.
Chris Brown has made his Instagram account private after likening himself to Jesus on a cross.
The controversial R&B singer, who seems incapable of avoiding headlines, has been a regular user of social media but now says that he needs to detach himself.
Following news about a recent brawl in LA, reportedly to be with Frank Ocean, Brown posted a painting of the Crucifixion of Christ, saying “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!”
Unsurprisingly, it led to even more criticism and so last night, in a series of messages on instagram, Chris thanked his fans for their support and explained to fans that he respected himself and them enough to ‘wanna be great’.
“Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons. So with that, I’m detaching myself from that world” he continued, before posting a link to his official website and promptly making his Instagram account private.
This isn’t the first time, that Brown has had to detach himself from social media.
He temporarily left twitter in November last year after an angry exchange with a comedian.
