Wiley leaked The Ascent to online fans 11 days before it was due to be released.
He’s anything but predictable. Wiley has leaked his forthcoming ninth studio album, The Ascent, 11 days before it was due to be released.
After announcing that there was something that he wanted to change, he told his twitter followers that if itunes would not allow him to make the change, he would just leak the whole thing.
“I hate being a idiot but sometimes people only listen when you are being a idiot.” he said.
No prizes for guessing what happened next..
Clearly a man of his own mind, Wiley did as he’d promised, and uploaded the album (minus mistakes), which includes tracks featuring Emeli Sandé, So Solid Crew’s Megaman, the Far East Movement and more.
Grime fans rejoiced and we’re guessing Wiley’s management and record label were none-too-happy.
“All day my label and manager have been ignoring me ya na and now they are talking to me lol” tweeted the Heatwave star.
Further explaining his feelings about the ‘mistake’, today, Wiley said “The mistake was not even me cos I sent the correct version of rubicon but somebody just did not care and put the wrong one up.”

It’s not the first time that Wiley has leaked his own material before release, and we’re guessing it won’t be the last. Have you heard the album yet and will you still be supporting the official release when it comes around?
